Carrigabrick Viaduct

The Mallow to Waterford Railway operated for a century until its closure in 1967. This project will reopen the Carrigabrick Railway Viaduct at Fermoy as part of a local walking route and a spur on the Avondhu Blackwater way and the E8 European walking route.

As Carrigabrick railway Viaduct is a protected structure several appraisals from conservation, ecological and architectural perspectives were required for planning permission. The proposed work includes the installation of new guarding sections, the creation of a large Corten steel entry threshold and the installation of specifically designed seating.

CathalOMeara LandscapeArchitects project managed this, coordinating different consultants. This project has just received planning permission from Cork County Council.
